The standard IAAF limit is 9mm for most events, or 12mm for javelin and high jump. Both these limits may be lowered at each track/facility manager's discretion. In practice, tracks usually limit to 6mm or 7mm on the track, and up to 9mm for javelin and high jump.
Know your track, use your own judgment. Spikes wear down.
